Youth Suicide and Self-Harm Awareness

Sun., Jan. 26, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.,
The Hi Ground, Love Offering

It can be difficult to navigate conversations about suicide and self-harm.

Research indicates that self-harm occurs in approximately 17% of adolescents with the average age of onset around 12 years old. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the US. Most teens and tweens either know a friend who is struggling with these issues or have struggled with these issues themselves.

These talks are designed to:

  • Bring awareness to these issues
  • Help youth and adults meet these pivotal moments with mindfulness and care
  • Equip attendees with a foundation of what to do if a friend or youth is experiencing self-harm or suicidal ideation.

Youth Workshop
Heather Aberg, MA, LCSW
Jefferson Center for Mental Heath
Appropriate for youth in 6th grade and older.

Adult Workshop
Lori A. Hoffner
ASIST Consulting Trainer and Master SafeTALK Trainer
